Review Test: ABS Interface

Review Test: ABS Interface

This guide will provide you a walkthrough of the Review Test experience for the ABS testing interface for Surgery SmartBanks.

Performance Modal

After submitting a test, or submitting a faculty-assigned quiz for which results are immediately available, you will first be presented with the Test Result Modal. This modal provides an overview of your performance on the test or assignment including your score, that national average, your difference to the national average, total time spent, and how many questions were answered correctly vs. incorrectly.

From here, the user can choose to Review All questions or Review Incorrect to prefilter to just the incorrect questions.

If this is a faculty-assigned quiz or assessment, the user can also click View Report to open the Individual Quiz or Assessment report.

The user can re-access this modal at any time via the Show Summary button in the Header.

Header

Within the header of the ABS interface, learners will see the test, quiz, or assessment name as well as which question they are currently on.

The resident can go back to the Dashboard using the End button.

The Show Summary button reopens the Test Result modal for a summary of performance.

The header also has Previous and Next buttons to navigate between questions.

Navigation Pane

From within Review Test, the left-hand navigation allows residents to click through questions.

The top of the pane gives a quick overview of the number of questions and the overall % correct for the assignment.

Each question is displayed with an indicator of if the question was answered correctly, incorrectly, or left unanswered. The user can also see the elapsed time for each question.

(Note: Elapsed time per question is only recorded while the user is on the question until the Show Explanation button is selected. So the total elapsed time per question may not match the total elapsed time for the test for Tutor Mode assignments.)

They can also filter the list of questions by correct/incorrect/unanswered, marked, or notes by selecting the icons at the top of the panel.

Question Tools

Once in the Test Review, the user still has access to most tools from Take Test.

Mark

Residents can mark questions via the button in the toolbar. Marked questions may used to indicate questions the resident may want to refer back to later via the Notes section of the platform. You can also use this feature to filter questions when creating a future test to just include previously Marked questions.

Feedback

If there are comments or feedback that residents would like to share with the TrueLearn team about a specific question, the Feedback tool allows users to indicate a feedback type and provide more information about the comment or concern. These are regularly reviewed by our content teams. The Feedback form opens in the right-hand side panel.

Notes

Via the Notes button in the toolbar, residents can add their own comments to a question for future reference. These are text only and can be up to 2000 characters. The Notes form opens in the right-hand side panel and notes added on previous question attempts or saves are hidden by default but can be shown and edited. It is important to note, that this is NOT functionality on the actual ABS exam, but is available in TrueLearn to help you with your studies.

Change Interface

Selecting the Change Interface button allows the user to switch to the custom TrueLearn interface for testing. Learn more about this interface here

Highlight

Residents can highlight within the question body or explanation by dragging their cursor over text and releasing. Clicking anywhere in the highlighted text will remove the highlight.

Show Explanation

The Show Explanation button opens the answer and explanation for a question once selected.

The explanation opens in the right-hand side panel. It includes information about the right and wrong answers, a bottom line (key takeaway), additional references, as well as information on what topic and category the question belongs to. Residents can highlight within the explanation as well.

Performance

Once the explanation is displayed, the resident can also see information on how other students performed on the question, including the distribution of answer selections nationwide and the total % of residents that answered a question correctly. This performance data differs slightly depending on the question type.

Rating

Once an explanation is displayed, the resident can rate the question – thumbs up or thumbs down. This provides additional data to our content teams about what questions residents find most helpful.
